Did the County Board actually commit to a $3,000,000+ Loan Guarantee for Leathercamp Broadband?

The County Board should give Bug Tussel a $142,175 grant from ARPA funds to meet it’s March 15, 2022 Commitment. In the long run, it will undoubtedly cost County taxpayers far less than guaranteeing a $3,000,000 (actually about $4,500,000 with reserves and capitalized interest) loan.

Is Misinformation being Provided in an Attempt to Influence County Board Votes?

Chair Gibbs: … but there’s really two different projects here the Leathercamp project which the County Board committed $3 million towards and that project had a PSC if I’m not mistaken had a PSC Grant of 3 million so you know to not provide the funding there really puts a challenge on you know  the value that the company is going to have so I I support that project 100%  …

Scott Feldt – Bug Tussel; … as for the second project there is a pse grant from 2022 that provides Last Mile fiber to uh the town of Mosinee  area and within that $3 million  Grant is a match of $3 million which Marathon County had agreed to provide that $3 million match so we’re looking for that as part of this funding as well …

NOTE: Scott incorrectly identified the applicable Township, but these comments refer to the Leathercamp Broadband project.

HRFC Chair Robinson: …  and the second one was $3 million associated with the Leathercamp fiber to the premise project which is we had committed to partner with them subject to County board approval on the terms and that and then they for three million then that would both between them they require capitalized interest …

When and where did Marathon County agree to provide $3,000,000 in funding for the Leathercamp project?

Actual March 15th, 2022 Commitment

The March 15th, 2022 commitment by the County Board for a $142,175 forgivable loan was the most recent commitment to the Leathercamp Broadband project that I was able to find. If I become aware of a more recent commitment by the County Board, I will update this post.
